The Wicomico Child Advocacy Center provides Wicomico County a safe, trauma-informed, child focused response to child maltreatment through assessment, investigation, prosecution, and treatment and promotes public education and prevention.
Applying a national recognized best practice model, the Wicomico Child Advocacy Center offers a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) approach representing child protective services, law enforcement, medical and mental health services, prosecution, and family advocacy. Members of the MDT include:
- Licensed, credentialed social workers; licensed, credentialed, and board-certified social work supervisors; and a victim/family advocate certified in victim assistance services from the Wicomico County Department of Social Services.
- Trained, credentialed detectives from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and the Salisbury Police Department.
- Licensed, credentialed, and peer-reviewed medical providers: through TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.
- Licensed therapists certified in trauma-focused therapy from Life Crisis Center.
- Licensed, credentialed prosecutors from the Office of the State’s Attorney for Wicomico County.
